These greek yogurt peach vanilla donuts are the perfect treat for breakfast or dessert!

Valentines-Peach-Vanilla-Donut-1Welcome to Valentine’s week. I am SOO excited. A whole week of sugary goodness, does it get any better than that?!? Valentines is a cheesy and totally over commercialized holiday but I love it for one pure simple reason….it gives me an excuse to load up on all kinds of goodies. (and if you haven’t noticed by now, I take all opportunities possible to stuff my mouth with sweets.)

Valentines-Peach-Vanilla-Donut-3Okay so are you ready for treat #1! Peach Vanilla Glazed Donuts. (We’ve been over my donut obsession right?) These peach donuts are dangerously easy and I can’t stop eating them. The fact that I only have to walk to my kitchen to eat them is even more dangerous. One day I am gonna get this donut obsession under control. Today is not that day.

These donuts are heavenly. The base is a perfect buttermilk dough with peaches mixed in three ways, yes three (because I’m just over the top like that). First off, greek peach yogurt is swirled into the buttermilk. Next..big, fat, juicy peaches are folded into the batter. Finally, a little peach juice is splashed in to round off the donut for total peach ecstasy. Combine that with a little splash of vanilla and you have one perfect donut. Unfortunately, I haven’t mastered the art of a good fried donut (working on it), so they were baked. Healthier right? You decide 🙂

The glaze is simple. Powdered sugar, vanilla, and a little milk. And a little pink food coloring because it is valentines after all. I don’t know what love is to you, but to me its donuts (fluffy peach pink ones). Happy eating!

Total time
A sweet buttermilk and greek yogurt donut with juicy peaches and warm vanilla glaze, baked not fried.
Serves: 15 Donuts
Peach Vanilla Donuts:
  • 2 ½ Cups Flour (I used cake flour but you could use all-purpose)
  • ¾ Cup sugar
  • 2 ½ Teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup Reduced Fat Buttermilk
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ½ Cup Peach Greek Yogurt (vanilla or plain work too)
  • 4 Teaspoons Peach Nectar Juice
  • ½ Cup Chopped Peaches (Fresh or Frozen)
Vanilla Glaze:
  • 1½ Cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tablespoon Milk
  • 2-3 Drops Red Food Coloring (Optional)
For Peach Vanilla Donuts:
  1. Preheat oven to 425° and spray a donut pan with non stick cooking spray. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl whisk together buttermilk, vanilla extract, greek yogurt, and peach juice. Combine the buttermilk mixture into the flour mix. Be careful not to over mix. Fold in diced peaches. Pour into prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full. Bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool donuts on a cooling rack. Dip donuts into vanilla glaze. Sprinkle with lots of sprinkles.
For Vanilla Glaze:
  1. Mix confectioners sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add additional milk. Optional: Add in 2-3 drops of red food coloring to make the glaze a rosy pink.
