3 Skinny recipes in a row! I guess I am on a roll. I promise I will have some decadent sweet treats for you next week. I am all about balance. If I make something extra indulgent than I try to to compensate with a little something healthy.
I am really excited to share today’s recipe with you! My husband and I are pretty basic when it comes to drinks. It’s usually water. His splurge item is a root beer whenever he eats a hamburger. I don’t care much for soda though. I am all about lemonade and limeade! The sweet and tart combination just really makes me all sorts of happy. Without fail, I will always order the lemonade at any restaurant but ONLY if its fresh squeezed! It has just gotta be fresh! I don’t give bottled juice a second thought.
The thing about most limeade is that it is full of sugar and carbs. But today all that is about to change. This limeade is just as good as the real thing and has zero calories! The secret is all in the simple syrup. Simple syrup is what makes a truly delicious limeade. I infused my syrup with lime zest for that little extra punch of flavor.
I made this limeade using Truvia! It really is my favorite zero calorie sweetener because it is all natural. The key to making this limeade is using fresh limes! It is worth the extra effort. Minimal ingredients mean using top quality produce. So here are a couple tips for buying the freshest limes possible. Look for limes that are bright colored and are free of any blemishes. I buy organic whenever possible. When you are shopping for limes, give them a little squeeze. They should give a little. I try to buy limes that are heavy for their size because that usually means that have more juice. When you are ready to juice the limes, give them a quick roll on the counter to help release some of the juices before cutting them open.
This limeade is so refreshing. I hope you enjoy!
